These tires are manufactured in Finland and Russia.

Company info says they’re made for northern climates... I wonder how they’ll wear and perform in southern climates in the summer...?

I like that they appear to be competitive with Michelins but cheaper (with a 34’, 6 tires + spare opens ones eyes a little wider at checkout time...).

Open eyes are not the issue. The wide open wallet is the real problem. 😀

Im not sure "enlightened" is the word I'd use.

I ran Nokian Hakkapelleta snow tires last winter. Amazing grip. I commute over Donner Summit daily. Never had a slippery day. They wore out in about 25k miles though.

Thanks for the report. We have XC skied right there -- plenty of snow that's for sure!

Agree about performance; as used on a Subaru Outback.
Great in snow and rain; but ran mine for about 65,000 miles in Canada.

Had no problem convincing my local DT to mount 16" Michelins on our trailer. Showed them AS literature for the Eddie Bauer, Pendleton and Classic models, which showed that tire as factory equipment. After that, they cheerfully installed the tires, no further questions.

OTOH, they stoutly declined to install the 15" Michelin LTX tires on our trailer back when I wanted to do that. Given their response, shortly thereafter we went with the 16" solution.

And I had no issues at all with Discount Tire mounting 15" Michelins on my wheels. So if one dealer won't do it, find one that will.

Glad to read this on that other thread. Have you put the Nokians through their paces in any unusual road conditions? Probably too early to ask about wear . . .

I priced some out recently and may be headed in this direction for 15" rather than upgrading wheels and tires to 16".

Thanks again,

Peter

I have had them in and out of the mountains several times but the weather has been good. So far no real big difference. I don't think I'll have much to report till I have them in the wet and snow. There I know they will make a big difference. As far as mileage goes I am sure they will be replaced long before the tread is half gone.

If I had to go back to 15 inchers, I would either get maxxis or Duros.
