A comment from my dealer

I was talking to the owner of my dealership Friday during the RV show at the convention center. I noted to him that I had upgraded my wheels from 15 to 16" and put LT tires on also. He thought it was a good move and while talking about our ST tire woes I told him that I felt that ST tires just did not hold up well on the heavier trailers. Personally I think that on a trailer like mine, 3 years is about all I can get without having to deal with belt separation issues.

He noted that while Airstream has not yet done an LT switch (other than the Eddie Bauer Edition), the better 5th wheel trailer manufacturers are beginning to make the switch. He noted that many of the 5th wheels at the show were equipped with LT tires. I don't look at 5th wheels a lot but this is an interesting item to note. Maybe some in the industry are finally addressing this issue.

That's good to hear, that maybe , finally, the RV industry is finally coming around on the tire issue.

Recently my sister had a near disaster with one of the tires on her big, late model 5th wheel. When I took a look at the tires, they were D rated tires on a 14,000 lb trailer. Unbelievable, yet par for the trailer industry.
