2 new tires-which axle??

I am going to replace two tires, they were on the front axle. Is it better to put the new tires on the front, or rear axle, or does it make a difference. The other two ar not too old, and were replaced by the PO.
Thanks for any info.

It's more work, but rotate one of the old tires to one side, and put the two new tires on the other side. The reason is the new tires will have thicker tread, and be slightly taller, carry more of the weight, and wear (or even fail) faster because of it.
If you are concerned about reversing the rotation of the tire you will be saving and moving, it can be dismounted and remounted backwards on the wheel, maintaining the same direction of rotation.

Ok, it is not more work at all, because I am going thru the brakes and bearing repack, all four wheels are off the ground. Do you recommend the new tires on the right(curb) side, since the road has a slight slope, or does it matter??
Thanks
