16'' wheels and tires upgrade on older Airstream

I have been reading all the posts on 16'' wheels has anybody installed them on an older Airstream? I have a 1985 29' and wonder if I have enough room in my wheel wells . Seems like most have been on newer coaches . I have Goodyear marathons on steel wheels / 55lbs max inflation on the wheels tires are in good shape and always covered but they were mfg in China . Thanks Les Grace wbcci #14183

I put them on a 1984 27 ft. Sovereign. Plenty of room. But conditions of your axles may be a decider for you.

I have them on my single axle 20' '74 Argosy. Lots of room on that one. I had a new Dexter axle put on in 2010. Tires are Goodrich LT 225/75 R 16

Thought I should show you a few "before and afters". Different sides of the trailer naturally, would not want it to be a perfect pictorial...

16 Inch wheels

I put them on my 1984 31 FT Excella.
My trailer came origionally with 7.00 15 Michelins that are no longer made in either 15 or 16 inch.
The tire I selected was the same OD of the original 15 inch tire and the width of the ST225/75R15.

Thanks,
Tires are BF Goodrich Commercial TA LT225/75R16's E rated. (Tire Rack)
Wheels are Tredit TR4's. Polished/Clearcoated Aluminum (Tredit Tire and Wheel)
And just for grins I ordered and installed Centramatic Balancers all the way around. Spent a lot of time painting them blue so they would look good thru the holes in the wheels. (can't even see them)

Yea, the BFG Commercial TA is no longer made in load range D. I'll have to go to the E but I still will follow the load/inflation chart recommendations because I dont want to beat the devil out of my trailer.

Yes, I am running mine at about 60 psi. I tried 55 but it seemed too bouncy back there, at 60, with about 2100 on each tire, it is about right for my 20' Argosy.
