My trailer maximum load is 10,000 lbs., which is 2500 lbs. per tires if a balanced load. I sent the recommended PSI chart from Michelin nd they stood fast on the 80 PSI recommendation. Am I missing something????
So I was wrong about 55 lbs. because I read the chart wrong, which references axle weight vs tires. Here is the chart for your reference and I'm going to 75 PSI to meet my rigs weight profile.

I appreciate all the great input!!!!!

Here is the chart for the LT225/75R16, in the load and pressure tab: Tire and Retread Selector | Michelin Truck

My 15" tires and rims for sale

I just upgraded my 15" stock rims and tires to 16" rims and Michelins on my new 25' RB FC. I now have the stock unused rims and tires. Any interest? Please email! Thanks!

We both like the OEM wheels on our Airstream and looking to move up to the 16" tires this year. Does anyone know if Sendel or anyone else have a 16" wheel close to the style we already have? Thanks

I just did the same thing. Was gonna post on Craigslist locally. Wonder what is a fair asking price?

SenDel has the T02 trailer wheel that closely resembles the factory wheel shown in post #87 above. They are available with the correct lug nut configuration and off set for the 14", 15" and 16" Airstream applications.

At the moment, the SenDel website has indigestion and is not working properly.

I upgraded to 16" rims and tires. Sendel T02 very close to stock AS rims. Got mine mounted with Michelins, balanced and shipped free from Performance Plus in CA. Worked with Joel. Shipped and received in 3 days. Good price as well

Couple of different topics

1. Tire loading. You need to either learn your actual individual tire loads when the TT is at its heaviest or figure the load is NOT split 50/50. When RVs are measured it is found that only a couple % are at 50/50 with many really at 47/53 to 45/55. So depending on how much risk you will accept and if you only have the measured total for all 4 tires you should first assume that one axle has 53 to 55% of the total and then that one end of that heavy axle is loaded to 53 to 55%. This would mean that with 4 tire measure load of say 7,856# you may have one axle loaded to 4,321# and one tire on that axle loaded to 2,377# but you don't know which tire that is.

2. Inflation
You really need some margin. Most cars run with a 13 to 20% margin for load capacity. A majority of RVs run with negative margin i.e. one or more tire in overload. Is it any wonder that RVs have a lot more failures than you see on cars. Also all tires on an axle should have the same inflation to avoid unexpected response in emergency braking.

3. Special consideration with tandem axles. Engineering analysis shows that since the tires on a trailer do not have the center of rotation that points to the center of the turn that the Interply shear for trailer tires runs about 24% higher than an identically loaded tire on a motorhome, truck or car. If you don't understand "Interply Shear" which is the structural forces that are trying to tear the tire belts off the body of the tire i.e. belt separation, I suggest you Google the term "interply shear rv tires"

4. If you want to lower the Interply shear you should run the inflation on the tire sidewall associated with the max load capacity. This will decrease that extra 24% but not completely eliminate this force. This is probably one of the main reasons TT may only get 3 - 5 years on their tires while cars, trucks and motorhomes may get 5 - 9.

My 16" tires and wheels are in will be installed in the next few weeks. I have also purchased the TST monitoring system and Centramatic balancers. I have another question about air pressure. If the tires are inflated to 80 psi when cold, and the pressure increases (or decreases ) after a few hours on the road due to temperature fluctuations, should the air pressure be adjusted? I checked my pressure before my last trip and the pressure in each tire had dropped from 65 to 57-60 in each tire. I added air before my trip to bring each tire back to 65 psi. After about 2 hrs on the road, I checked the pressure again and each tire had over 70 psi. All thoughts are appreciated.

What is the offset that's required?
