14" to 15" on AS 23.

14" to 15" on AS 23. Anything I should be especially cautious of in increasing?

We did not have any clearance issues at all on our L-lounge version of the 23'. But on one of the threads on this subject someone stated that they had to trim one wheel well opening a little -- can't recall if it was the FB or the Dinette model. Did not stop the conversion, just caused a little bit of modification.

Maybe they will respond here, or you could use the Search feature on this website and try to find it.

Thanks. I wondered about the rear of the wheel well. It was recommended to go to the larger wheel, but before I tried, wanted to see if anyone has had any problems. Appreciate it.

23FB converted to 15in and no issues. Refer to previous threads for wheel and tire recommendations.

So, by elimination it seems it is the Dinette model with the issue. Which model do you have?

Theoretically there should not be any lateral movement in the wheels. I filed the wheel well trim back to 1+ inch just to be safe. 10K miles and no problems.

Going to 15 inch Michelins and T03 Sendel wheels made a "happier" 23D. The ground clearance is increased, more cushion for the trailer and greater footprint for better braking. BTW....the 10 inch brakes do a great job with the larger wheels.

The only issue may be a tendency for snow to get packed into the smaller space. I don't intentionally tow in the snow so not an issue.

Thanks all. Have the 23FB. If I end up towing in snow, it is going to mean I am way off course and I have a lot more problems than snow pack. Happy camping.

CAUTION: Tires deflect sideways, so while the wheels may not have significant lateral movement, the tires will - and rubbing may be possible under driving conditions.

The curb side wheel well on our 2015 23D International Serenity had more sheet metal in front of the 14" tire than the street side (another manufacturing defect) wheel well.

Going from the stock GYM ST215/75R14C tires with a diameter of 26.7" to the Michelin LTX (P) 235/75R15 XL tires (mounted on SenDel T03-56445T wheels) with a diameter of 28.9" meant these tires were about 1.1" larger in diameter. We trimmed the front edge of the curb side wheel opening to have the same dimension of skin behind the vertical plastic wheel well as the street side and the tire fits fine.

The trailing arm suspension Airstream uses means that the wheels travel up and back when a bump is hit.

Installed the 15in on a '15 FC23FB today. Clearance looks good.

Switz - what did you do to lower the spare tire carrier? I thought I read you drilled a new hole about 1/2in higher on the rack mounts, but it looks like at least 1in additional clearance is needed and there is not enough material to do that. Considering using an extender tab with a hole to connect the mount and another to attach the assembly to the frame. Your help is appreciated. Pat

Added about 2" to the spare tire rack rear brackets. That is more than what is needed, but the configuration of the front arm makes it hard to get the tire up into the locked position with less rear clearance. Got a feeling my rack needs additional review, but the spare is up and locked.

We fabricated a completely new carrier for the 15" tire.

Switz - I can understand that approach. Thanks for the clarification. Pat

Ordered the T02s from ETrailer today. Couldn't get the price any lower that $98 with free shipping. Will order tires in a few weeks. Zero offset, correct?
Thx
Jeff
