Towed mine about 800mi on its initial trip, did the new tires and slow speed routine, but I would also check the wheel bearings before starting the trip or at least see if the hubs are getting hot during the trip home. Oh and for tire changes make sure you know where the jack points are on the coach.

We towed our '63 Globetrotter for 5 years and thousand of miles on bad axles. Being a newbie, I didn't think this through far enough. Anyway, I'm now in the process of restoring the trailer since the shell leaks like a sieve from all the shock and vibration transmitted into the shell through the hard rubber rods. The AC we put on the roof certainly only made things worse.

Well, the new axle is sitting in the garage, the shell is in the backyard and the frame is in the driveway.

A new axle sooner rather than later will save you time and money in the long run.
