Thought I would share this info.
I just had a person private msg me wanting to know where I got my brake shoes. Since we had a shop here do the work I called them up to find out.
This company may only sale wholesale but it's worth a look. www.redneck-trailers.com Looks like they carry a lot of things us old Airstreamers need.

Hey Rebel
Think that was me who P/M you and found out from friend with brakes on his trailer he had it done at Sanel auto parts. He had his brakes drums honed the shoe pads matched ,Hub bearing remove seal and racer and bearing replaced and shoes come with hardware to all done for $50 a axle just need to put it together.

Well a freind suggested I bring the drums and the shoes to sanel auto parts and they will pull the bearing from the drum give you new seals new bearings match up the shoes with new ones (with the whole kit) for like 50 bucks a axle that would be 100 for both axles. Now I read somewhere that you want to make sure you keep left and right sides are separate is this true?

I recommend anything with a bearing or that is machined go back on the same place where it came from. If you machined the drums and replaced the bearings with new races you could place the drum anywhere. And I always remount the drum on the same axle on the same side.
Heck I even remount my wheels on the same wat as they came off. Same studs. I mark the wheels and drums and the remount goes on the same way for all my vehicles.

Well I am marking all wheels where the drums and bearing came off of and I am dooing one side at a time in other words bring one side in one day another when I pick up the other side. I have a brain fart what do they call it when you machine the brake drum?

Some people will refer to it as turning the drums. Other will call it resurfacing the drums. Still others will refer to as machining the drums. Pick one.

Not only would they "NOT" be safe for one season, they are not safe for "ONE" trip.
When cracks are visiible, the tires are "done". Mileage doesn't matter.

1/2 inch to one inch isn't small either, in the world of tire cracks.

bearings and tires
in racing it always comes down to the tires! there are alot of threads on this topic. good info. alot of opinions. i decided on goodyyear marathons.
