Should I wait to finish trailer b4 ordering axles

my 66 safari is in need of a new axle. my question is i am doing some custom work on the interior of the trailer and it should be around the same weight as stock but im not 100% sure. should i wait to finish the trailer, weigh it and then order axles? im pulling the frame out in a few weeks to do some welding and new plywood and i would love to do the axle at that time. i was going to go w the dexter 3500lb axle. im almost positive the weight will stay very close to the stock weight of the trailer may differ - + 200 lbs and i think the stoick weight is 3200 pounds for a 66 22 foot safari. am i correct on that?

The proper axle rating for a 1966 22 foot Airstream, is either 4500 or 5000 pounds.

I am not at my office to look at the charts, but I will correct the post tomorrow.

The original dry weight on your trailer was supposed to be 3360 & it has a 5,000 lb axle on it. You are correct, it is much easier to replace the axle when the chassis is off........................even easier when it's upside down
