I would call RV repair places, tell them what you need and if they can't help you ask for a recommendation.

It's not that hard to do with a few tools.

When I wanted to have a lift kit installed I contacted Dexter axles and they gave me their local dealer. They service rvs and semi trucks so you may want to check with a dealer of commercial trucks.

Sorry to get a little off track but, can you tell me where you purchased your axles? I am wanting to replace mine. I will be doing the labor myself but I am not sure where to buy them.

Thanks
MC

Got our AS there a few years ago, last year the fridge went out, they put in new for less than I could get the unit itself.

If you did mind driving to Helena, Ohio P & S Trailer Services specializes in Airstream repair and refurbishing. I have found them to be reliable, capable and competent. Check them out on line or call for an estimate. www.pandstrailerservices.com

They are about 45 minutes from the south side of Toledo.

Call Woodland and ask them who they use. They sent me to a company in Wyoming, MI to have an alignment done. Sorry I'm out of the country and don't recall the name, but they can do the job for you.

The bolt in torsion axles are not that difficult. Typically the most difficult part is rusted bolts. A penetrant oil and patience are needed. You may need to do a bit of grinding for axles on units in the mid-sixities or earlier. This is to get the newer axle set installed.

Some of the early torsion axles are welded in. This requires more skills.

Know what the job requires and you have sized up the labor.

Thanks!!

We appreciate the feedback! It sounds like the hubby is going to give it a try! But it could be challenging! He has equipment and know how, but they are pretty rusted in place! So I can update you on how it goes...

We ordered through Colin Hyde... We contacted his shop and after exchanging to info and maybe some pictures - He sent a diagram of braces to cut out and ordered the axles from Dexter. They can with hardware etc. We did have to find a business address to have them shipped to... We also purchased different hardware - my husband said it was wrong... We did find it challenging at times to stay in contact with Colin Hyde but overall VERY PLEASED with our dealings. Now we need install them... I hope all goes well!!

If you have the vertical shocks on your axles / trailer be sure to put the shocks on before you mount the axle. It made it a much easier job on my 67.
