Recommendation for Axle replacement near San Francisco?

Greetings!

I've got a 1974 Overlander I recently acquired and I'm looking for a place to get the axles replaced. I live in San Francisco and the Airstream is stored in Alameda and I've got no place to do the work myself. Can anyone recommend anywhere near SF to get this type of work done?

Thanks!

Greg

I just bought a 1970 Caravanner and am having axles replaced at Avalon RV in Benicia. They restore vintage Airstreams.

Don't be intimidated - bought mine from Colin and it took me four hours - not hard at all, that included doing the first one twice (you have to put on the shock on the axle before putting the axle on!). I'm 72 years old - easy - used two floor jacks and two ramps.

You can try Vinnie's in Novato. His handle on the forum is Airslide. He's done work for me before and I heartily endorse him. Google "Vinnie Airstream"and the first few hits will be his site.

Hi Greg,
We've shipped axles to numerous Mom & Pop Garages & RV Shops all over North America .......& beyond. There haven't been any issues with the installations for your era. Virtually all the 70's era & up axle installations do not require any drilling or welding, so pretty much anyone with the right lifting equipment can handle the job. Earlier Airstream's require some drilling, but not your era.
