Price check

Can one of the local axles gurus give me a rough estimate the cost for two Dexter 3500 lb. torsion axles with complete brake assemblies with "maximum shipping" in the lower 48? Thanks in advance for any help.

Call 301-769-2211, Cusic Mechanic Service, ask for Billy Cusic.
This is my local Dexter dealer, he can answer questions.

Did you ever get that quote? My husband thinks we may be needing the same for our 67 overlander.

We haven't even begun our restorations....pretty overwhelming for us inexperienced newbies!

TinRitz....

We got our axles from Andy at InlandRV.com in So-Cal...if you call him, he will figure out just what you need...they are easy to replace, I did it by myself! I got complete axles with new brakes, etc - now we ride down the road just like new trailers!

Read down toward the end of this thread with some comments I made during my axle replacement, and other stuff I've done on our 78 Ambassador...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f173...way-41888.html

BTW, we just got back from a short week up at Bodega Dunes...bit of rain, but it was a fun time anyway! Two other AS's pulled into the state park while we were there, one was about the same age as ours, and the other was a brand new Bambi on it's maiden voyage! And just 'over the hill' at Casini Ranch Rv Park on the Russian River, there was a local Rally of about 25 or so AS's last Fri, Sat and Sun - we couldn't join em' this time as we have to be back home for Easter...

Have fun with your AS - that's what they're for...

Ray & Patricia, near Stockton...

VERY rough estimate is about $700-800/ axle (that includes shipping).

If you go look at Andy's website (InlandRV), axles are on the "specials" list. I believe they drop ship from Ohio so the shipping shouldn't be ridiculous.

Last year I got 2 #10 Dexter axles for about $370 each and paid about $100 for shipping.
If I remember 3500# axles are #11 and cost about $100 more each. I ordered factory direct

I just ordered two #11 Dexter 3500 lb axles (yesterday), complete set-up including hubs, 12" brakes, shock mounting brackets was $1,145. Shocks ordered separatly (about $35 each). I'm picking them up in Monticello Georgia so I don't know what shipping would be. Hope this helps.

The 31 foot Excellas are supposed to have 4000 pound axles.

The earlier ratings were found to be inadequate, by Airstream.

You need to put 8000 pound capacity axles under a trailer that weighs 5000 pounds? Why do you need the extra 1000 pounds capacity?

Because Airstream said so, for the Excella's.

The early rating axles that they installed proved to be inadequate.

He has a 31 Excella, not a Sovereign. The Excella's are much heavier.

Andy
