After a long winters nap, my baby awakes. I dropped here off last fall at AS of Spokane and told them no hurry. It was ready right around new years. Once I arrive we have about a days work installing Vent covers, the painted AC cover, additional solar panels and new WD hardware.
They installed a pair of new axles, new Kodiak brakes, Carlilie Electro-hydraulic actuator. The 100,000 mile axles had 80,000 miles on them. I did like the design of the Dexter brakes so they were replaced and Acti-brake went out of business.

It shall be good to see her behind the truck again.

Ja' get the brakes separate from the axles? What size, 10"? What load bearing rating are your new axles?

I know what you mean about enjoying the view from your rear-view mirrors. We hooked up and took a short trip last weekend and I had a hard time focusing on the road.

Zep, you've been reading too many axle threads

. The Kodiaks are generally disc replacements for 12".

Brakes were seperate from axles. Kodiak brakes, dexter axles.
The axles are 5000 lbs each. The trailer is 10,000 GVW.
The discs are 12".

We completed the work mid-Tuesday. New solar panels are on. Vent covers are on. Painted Air Conditioner cover in on. New WD hardware was install after I bent a bracket and cam last year.

The replacement parts look different than the original. They changed the design. One my way home I sheared two bracket bolts. Fortunately I did not loose my WD bar. Last night one sheared and landed in the yard.
I am loosing faith in Reese Products.
Any one know of a hitch system that is not made in China?

Not much planned for this summer. Area 33 and a short trip to Glacier. I expect to make more Motorcycle trips this summer.

Were your axles giving you any problem? If so, what do I need to look out for? Lucy is fast approaching the 80,000 mile mark.

The Axles were sagging a bit. Otherwise, they were fine. I opted to have them replaced before the "100,000 mile" bearings started to become a issue.

Here is the picture. I painted them two coats Krylon "Crome Aluminum".
They have two coats of primer, two coats of a shade of grey, and two coats of another color I forget. Finally the Chrome....

Which bolts sheared? Was it possibly the ones on the High Performance Dual Cam brackets? The reason I ask is because I recently installed one for a client, & two of the attachment bolt heads popped off about half an hour after installing them. When bolt heads typically shear off, the surface usually looks like it twisted off, however these bolts appeared to have been cast so the surface just looked broken. For whatever reason, Reese appears to be using very low quality hardware in a high stress application. These bolts appear to be made of "Chinesium". It might be a good idea to forward your concerns to Reese. I will be sending the bolts so they can do their own testing.

I noticed they were cast as well. One showed a uniform break the other started at the thread, broke partially then completely.
I have talked to my distributor and they are forwarding my concerns to Reese.
They dual cam I have is the new version of the old one I had. They have the exact same part numbers.
I went out and purchased grade 8 bolts. I am going to try to get nuts on the inside of the frame.

My main concern is the cam looks cast as well. I wonder when they are going to break.
