Shocks absorb the energy stoping excessive bouncing on leaf and spring type suspension. Most trailer manufacturers do not use them on torsion axles as they are not needed. I am putting them on to keep original. Torsion axles do this by design but shocks will not hurt anything.

Get right or get left, and have a blessed day !

Shock absorbers are inappropriately named. In a suspension system, the shock absorbing is done by the springs or torsion bands in the case of an Airstream suspension.

The function of the shock absorbers is to dampen the springs, so that one bump won't cause a long roller coaster effect. Not surprisingly, you can observed what shocks are meant to correct, by watching an automobile with bad shocks go over a bumpy road.

As a matter of fact, what I consider to be shock is actually increased by shock absorbers. This is because the shock absorber impedes the spring's initial reaction to a bump.

Yes, water heaters, don't heat hot water, never have, never will.

Andy hamburgers, are not made with ham.

So, sometimes, the name is confusing. Boxing gloves are "shock absorbing" too, but they don't fit too well on torsion axles.
