New axles help please

Hi Everyone,

We need a new axle for our "67 Safari. What should we get ? We don't know anything and need some help. Do we then need new brakes as well ?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You may not "need" new brakes, but just the fact you would have to switch them over tells me that it would be better to have them come with the axle. Like axles themselves, brakes have improved dramatically in the years since yours was built. I used to do airbrakes on semis, and horse trailer brakes....the improvements year to year were interesting.

My suggestion is to call Andy at Inland RV AS dealer or Colin Hyde at Colin Hyde restorations both are very knowlegable about A.S. Colin deals with axis axles & Andy with Dexter Axles

I've bought new axles with brakes from both Colin and Andy. Either one would be able to help you.

ok-thank you. I guess Andy will be the guy since we are in California as well. So, what kind of brakes do Dexter's require ? Disc brakes ? Or is that over kill for a 22' streamer?Any idea what a ball park figure is for new axles and breaks ?

Thanks.

Thank you all very much. We called Andy and my hubby had a nice log chat with him. We ordered the new axle and are waiting for it's arrival. We greatly appreciate all of your help!
