New axle for a '62 Tradewind

Have a 62 Tradewind single axle that needs to be replaced. What size do I need? Also which name brand do you guys suggest.

If you crawl under the trailer there may be a tag on the axle with the weight rating. My '74 has the weight rating on the VIN number tag.

Your trailer originally came with a 4000 lb axle. This would be a nominal 5000 lb axle de-rated to 4000 lbs. Axles are de-rated during the fabrication process by shortening the rubber rods before assembly. Depending on the direction of your restoration/refurbishment, you may want to up-rate your new axle to suit your current or expected final weight.
