Hello All, new user here so lots of question but I've spent several days reading on this forum and trying to learn before I ask. I have a chance to buy a 1970 Caravel, it's been neglected but being a handyman sort of person that doesn't scare me too much. What I can't determine, and am asking, is: would this AS be one that would need the axle replacement? TIA, Dwight

If the axle is original, then YES. Just add $ 1000.00 or so to the repair budget for a new axle. Even if it isn't the dreaded spindle snapping axle in the 1970, it's still a good idea to replace it.
