Just wanted to confirm that I need to replace my axle

Here's a pic of my axle. The front was jacked up a bit but I don't think that matters. Also, on the axle web site, what is the difference between the 10 and the 12 and will my 1963 Bambi require a certain one or can I choose? Sorry in advance for my ignorance.

Mine's in the same boat, replace the shocks if you don't have the grand to burn, and tow at a reasonable speed, ie, under 80mph for an Airstream

Your trailer uses 10 inch brakes. You cannot upgrade it to the 12 inch brake system, as it won't fit the trailer correctly.

Replacing shocks has absolutely "nothing" to do with raising a trailer or assisting the axle suspension. They are a motion restricter only.

Jeff - the axle on my Caravel looks just like yours. After reading some information and seeing two rigs at the VAC rally in Co that had at one time had a spindle snap off - I went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered a new axle. You have to do it sooner or later and I didn't want to risk loosing the trailer and or injuring someone. There's no margin for safety with a single axle trailer if that spindle goes.

Thank you Andy. I plan on ordering the axle from InlandRV. when it comes "complete" will that include everything I need? and is the install something that I could do myself or should I have someone else do it. I don't have a problem paying someone else as long as it's done right. Is there anyone in the metropolitan Detroit area that you could recommend? Is the install something that any trailer place could do? Well, that's all the questions I can think of right now. Thank you in advance for your answers. Jeff

Most all new ones come with Goodyear Marathons.
