If you make changes to your trailer which significantly reduce the weight, how do you calculate the correct axle load rating for an AS? Is there some rule of thumb like axle weight + 10%? I haven't weighed my trailer yet, but it's a good guess that its way under original just judging by how high it is setting on 31 year old axles. I have a 31ft with dual axles.
David---There probably is a rule of thumb like you suggested. Andy at Inland RV is an excellent source on sizing axle capability requirements. He'll chime in here soon, or send him a personal message. You definitely will need to weight the trailer and then account for all the stuff you will have on board.
