horse trailer axle

hi - i need an axle for my horse trailer. the trailer company said i had to go to henschen for an axle. that sounds like the name of a part not a business but i don't know. i have the measurements - someone said it was a "UP" - or i misread it - maybe its VP? Suggestions on where to go?

Welcome to the forum.
Henschen is no longer in business, and the company that took over that part of the market has been bought out as well.
You can try contacting Colin Hyde here on the forum, he may be able to help you.

Not sure that the rubber core AS axle is what you want for your horse trailer ... pre arched w/ HD springs might be better.

Search torsion axle on the net and you will find a couple of sources. I am surprised the trailer company did not offer to find an axle. Unless they are not changing out the axle.

Al KO Axis is the new company's name. Colin Hyde just ordered a new axle for my Airstream from there. They're in Elkhart, Indiana.

Many thousands of horse trailers use torsion axles, for the same reason that Airstream does.

Softer ride.

Dexter makes the axles for late model Airstreams. I know they will do custom ones, because I had them make one to spec for a travel trailer a few years ago. I ordered the axle through Redneck Trailer Supplies.

Dexter makes a great product.

But, they continue to fight the need for shock brackets, as they refuse to do it, except for Airstream.

If you make a mistake in your order, you bought it, period, as some have already found out.

Same with Redneck.
