My 1982 Excella axles are bolted in with 4 bolts per axle per side. The two bolts that go vertical have nuts that are not welded so when i try to back out the bolts they just spin. I got a wrench on the back two by cutting out the belly pan, but the front two are surounded by steel gussets. I can get a torch and blow the heads off of the front bolts but when i replace the axles there is no way to get the nuts on the vertical bolts. What can I do?
I am not aware of either Airstream plant "ever" using the vertical bolts.
That is why the axle moounting plates are used.
Use 2 bolts per side, thru the axle bracket, thru the axle mounting plate. That's how the axles were designed to be mounted for over 45 years.
You can burn them off with a torch, but be careful.
The aluminun can be patched if you burn it.
