Flipped axle on '59 Tradewind

Hello everyone, was wondering if flipping the axle on a 59' Tradewind is ok to do? We just purchased it a few months ago and after a lot of work we are finally ready to hit the road. The couple we bought it from flipped the axle for more ground clearance and also installed some 16" wheels and 215/85 tires which are quite a bit taller than the factory 15" 215/75 combo. So are their any downfalls to flipping it? We have our 1st trip planned next week and I just want to make sure it is safe.

Thanks!

I have known others to do it with no problems. It is commonly done on SOB trailers, particularly by those with high 4x4 trucks.
Also see that it has what looks like Seide safety skids. Haven't seen those in a long time.
Doesn't look like they come down far enough to work though

Safety skids would have been effective when it was a spring under configuration, now just junk bolted to axle. That being said, the raising of the trailer about 4 inches shouldn't be any problem
