Unhappy Dexter Recall anyone?

I picked up my mail yesterday addn found a recall notice from Airstream. Anyone else get this? They say they will have to replace some parts that may brake and result in no braking.
Anyone have any porblems?

Did they give you any details about the recall, ie; years, models, and production dates affected?

Yes,
Certain 2005 and 2006 Classic Travel Trailers.
Axles made between Feburary and May of 06. My trailer falls into that time frame but my axle may not. Caliper (disk Brakes) mounting hardware that loosens and then falls apart. Resulting in loss of braking.

Thanks

Thank you for narrowing down the scope of the recall. I hope the fix for your AS goes smooth.

So Michelle how do you find out when the axle was manufactured or will they just be checking parts? Have you been to the factory yet recently?

So it looks like we had our choice of non-lubed bearings (Henschen) or brakes falling off (Dexter). I'm not glad to hear this. My build date was first week of August '05. I know I have Dexters. I'll keep my eyes open for the letter... Dang!

Carol,
I received a letter from Airstream. I am going to give them a call and see if I can inspect and deterimine if it is safe to get it to the Factory and let them do the change out or whatever.

They seemed to be limited to the Classic (Disk brakes). The Safari was not affected unless you have the Classic brakes.

Classic brakes? Drum? or disc? Should be disk. Those are the ones affected by the recall. Your build date is outside the current recall. TOw until the wheels fall off!
