I make precision diamond wheels and use a precision balancing outfit for some of my high speed or large format tools, they also balance the brake rotors for Rousch, and for the Nascar programs of GM and Chrysler. The drums that came with my axles were out by 7 ounces! I had them balanced to within a 1/4oz-in. A bit overkill but at least I will have satisfaction in knowing that they are good for awhile. Is there some way you could talk GKN into a balancing step before shipment specifically for Airstreams? If done in quantity your talking about adding between $5-$10 per drum in manufacturing cost, and one more feather in your cap for marketing purposes.
I will take up your suggestion with GKN Henschen and will advise you accordingly.
