Are the shock mounts on replacement axles configured the same as the original axles so that the chassis mount side can be the same?
Or are we stuck with (having someone else if you don't weld) welding new shock mounts to the chassis?
Also new bolt holes?
How much (if any) of this changes when opting for the 3" raise?

Hang in there and give it couple of tries. He is very busy and goes to rally's. He may get inundated with forum members needing advice. I think email worked best for our contact with him.

Axles spected by Colin Hyde come with the shock mounts correctly attached.

Jim.
When replacing older axles, replace them all at the same time.
If you install a new axle along side of an old axle, you will "RUIN" the new axle, since it will carry more weight because it's starting angle places the torsion arm further down ward. It also will set up a sway because it will carry more weight than it's supposed to.
Suggestion. Purchase one axle now, and put it in storage. When the other funds become available, then purchase the second axle. In stall both at the same time.
The only problem with that method is that you will be paying for freight, "TWICE".
Perhaps a better suggestion, is save up the money for both axles, and order them at the same time.

I got my axels through Andy at Inland RV the were very helpful and walked me through it. Shipping is a big cost, so don't pay for it twice. If you opt for the steeper down grade to raise the trailer, dexter will not weld the shock brackets on. If they are shipped from the dexter factory to you, expect to have to weld them on. If they ship from Andy's place they will weld them on before they go out.
Andy feel free to jump in and correct me if things have changed.

The brackets were on mine, but you have to weld on stud,or I made a bolt for shocks to go on, No changes I got 3" to 4 " lift with 32 degree. Call me if you have other questions 5738818922 RED

To answer your question.
2 to 2 1/2 weeks without, but freight from Texas, shock brackets sent USPS.

Is it best to weld the shock brackets on before installing the axles, or after the install to insure a proper fit?

It's best to weld the shock brackets on, before the axles are mounted.
The bracket should be at the outside edge of the torsion arm, with the shock stud facing inward.
