Axle Repair in Georgia

I know where the Sagon RV dealership is in Jackson Georgia, but I was wondering if anybody from Georgia has had their axels replaced by a repair service. This is one task I want to hire somebody to do. I have been researching, but have not got that positive feeling from the different service departments I have checked with the are up for doing the repair.

Has anybody had them replaced and felt very good about the service they received?

Try contacting Ron (PizzaChop). He had the name of a trailer dealer that he seriously considered using up around Athens, IIRC. He wound up doing it himself, tho.

If you have a floor jack, an impact wrench, and can make a short legged T frame to support the axle you can do this in less than an afternoon.

Jack up the trailer enough that you and a friend can work under there and you have enough height to drop the axles off the frame.
Remove the wheels.
Cut the brake wires.
Support the axle, Frame description latter.

Unbolt the axles and slide out.
Install new axles.
Torque bolts to 75 ft lbs.
Rewire brakes
Install wheels
Lower trailer

I took a 2x6 long enough to support each axle under the spindle. From the center of that 2x6 bolt a piece of 3/4 in plywood 12 in. long and long enough to reach from the 2x6 to under the axle tube, about 12 x12. Bolt this 3/4 ply on top of the 2x6 because you want the axle tube to ride as high as possible, with respect to the spindles, when lifting the axle into position.

Now you can support the axle,on you jack at the center point, and roll the axle into position and lift it into place and bolt it up.

I replaced mine about 2 weeks ago and so far it has been the easiest project I've done so far. I took it out by myself in about an hour and it took my brother and I about an hour to put it back in. If you can replace a rear floor section you should be able to change the axles. I used a motorcycle / ATV jack and this in its self made all the difference.

If you get your axles from Inland RV they will be a direct bolt up but expensive.

If you order the Dexter axles its up to you to get the order right and require slightly more work (elongate 4 bolt holes).

This should be a fairly easy DIY project but it really helps to have a helper.

Shocks are not a problem once the axles are off.

3 way rocks

I had mine done at 3 way last summer. They did a great job and know airstreams better than some dealers as they were the GA dealer early on.

I had inland ship them direct saving the residential drop fee and carrying them around.

Ask for Chad and feel free to use my name. They do a lot of work on my baby and he is great to deal with.

Jim sorry for the confusion, I realized after I read my post that I have the impression that 3 was currently an airstream dealer. They are not, they were a long time dealer and dropped the line. My point was they are still very knowledgeable about airstreams, stock some parts and have a strong airstream following

ThreeWayCampers has a great reputation and has been around a long time. They still stock some AS parts, and you will always see one or two being worked on in their shop.

Now I know why I want somebody to do my axels. I put my wheels back on after doing the blacktank area. I thought I cranked all the bolts on the wheels after I dropped it. I was taking the trailer to get evaluated today (Axels, refrigerator, electical etc), and I lost a wheel. I was not aware of losing a wheel until I got to the RV shop. I found my wheel 2 miles from the shop and I found three bolts. I am now in need of three bolts, dust cover cap and cleaning of the threads. I have my airstream at the RV shop. I am at home trying to figure out what I am going to do. They are happy to do new axels for me and will give me a price tomorrow.
