That bracket seems mounted backwards. The stud would clear if it was flipped around.

Paul.

The shock brackets sometimes must be bent to obtain clearance.

If the bracket was turned around, the shock would hit the tire.

The shock bracket location, is dictated by the location of the torsion arm.

Bambi's and Caravels provide a real challenge with the newer style larger torsion arms.

Changed shocks on my 1988 Excella and had the same problem. What I did was take the rubber out of the mounting hole and put that on first with plenty of oil. This gave me a little more wiggle room, then worked the shock on. It still takes some moving around but it worked for me.
