Argosy different than Airstream axle ?

I am in the process of replacing the axles on my 76 Argosy 26. In measuring my worn axles I find that the hubface to hubface measurement is 78 inches. Looking at TOP's axle thread , his axles were 80 inches . Did Argosy make them with a more narrow track width versus Airstream ? If it has any bearing on the matter, my axle came with 10 inch brakes. Thanks for any input .

Different ratings have different hub face dimensions.

Thank you for the feedback. If I specify an ugrade from 2800 pound axles to 3200 pound axles, will they come with a wider track? Will I have any clearance issues ?? Thanks again.

Argosy Heir.
I just installed 2 new axles on my Argosy 26'. The original axles were rated at 2800# each with 10" brakes.
I upgraded to 3000# axles with 12" brakes.
The overall track is about 3" wider, but poses no clearance problems. As a matter of fact it has improved the clearance on the inside between the tire and frame. I was always uncomfortable with how close the tires were to the frame.
I felt the 400# increase in axle capacity would help with the riding height of the trailer, but not make the ride too stiff. That's 200# per axle increase.
