5000# Axle?

I'm buying a Canadian 19' Safari SE. Apparently it comes with 5,000 pound rated axles, because that's what they have to have up there.

Full disclosure: me = mechanical idiot

This sounds good to me, more or less, if a bit useless because there's no way I'm going to pack 1,500 lbs of stuff into my Bambi, (!) but I wanted to check that there's no other fall-out to having axles like this that is obvious to people who know about this stuff, like weird tires required or weird tire wear or something, if anyone has a sec.

#1) You would be amazed how much your crap weighs. Also over time more stuff accumulates.
#2) There may be times when you need to carry water in and maybe "used" water out.
#3) It's good to have some reserve capacity

Our 2,300 lb Caravel goes down the road at about 3,000 lbs.

It is amazing just how much the necessary things weigh.

They do that because in Canada they have too. Be Thankful.

In the States AS they are (still) outfitting some of their trailers with under rated axles.

Our Classic,(03), has two 3500lb pound axles on a 7300lb GVW trailer.

But no weird (read: expensive) tires? No strange equipment? Nothing like that?

I'm going to try and go for the 100 Things. Don't know if I'll manage it - but it also ought to help keep the weight down. The suitcase I carried for the last four years has weighed about 30-50 lbs (except for one memorable story that shall remain untold for now). I'm going to try and not get much above that for the same kind of gear, plus a winter coat and some dress shoes for occasional work. The carryon had my tech gear in it, and that's where I might get a bit heavier.

The stuff the trailer has to have (hoses, generator, galley, etc.) I am hoping to leave the most space for.
