'05 classic - got this seal part # from airstream

I am doing bearings for the first time on '05 31' classic - called airstream and got this part number: 680370-100

they didn't need much info about the trailer to give me that number.

I checked the axles, and I could not find a nameplate as others have described. There was a big printed label though with the following info:

Airstream #410875-06
4200# cap
Henschen # 7420005-0355KS

I got a set of seals from an airstream dealer - $6.95 each.

Now that I have one hub apart, the new seals seem correct except that the new ones have a flat cross section when viewed from the edge - the one I just removed does not, the inside edge is concave, I am guessing this happens when you put it all back together? or when I (carefully) removed the inner bearing with a rubber mallet and wooden dowel - does that sound right?

thanks

Mike

Mike, as long as the seal fits the hub, and the seal rides on the spindle where the old seal did (you can find the little rub mark from the seal on the spindle), you are good to go.

Hi Terry,

thanks - the new seals fit just right. They are the identical size as the old ones, just looked different and there are no number stamped on these. Just need to do the other wheels now
