Towing Mirrors

We tow a 23 foot International with a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Our mirrors are barely adequate. Has anyone found a good set of mirror extenders?

Despite the poor reviews I've used these for 3 years and been reasonably pleased:
CIPA Universal Tow Mirror - Item - Camping World

The importer for north america is nearby and I've stopped in a couple of times for new grippy rubber pads. They always give me a handful and I am sure if you email or call them they would give you some too. http://www.cipausa.com/

I think the whole problem is the rubber loses it tackiness and the mirror then slides around. Even the $ store has new rubber pads that can be used to replace the ones on the mirror. As long as you realize the pads have to be replaced once or twice a season, these mirrors should do the job.

You can find the mirrors at just about any store so if you don't like them after trying them, just take them back.

Towing Mirrors

Greetings mok!

My suggestion would be to give the McKesh mirrors a try. They are expensive initially, but comparatively speaking, the cost over time is small. The set that I use on my Cadillac are 30+ years old, and the set on my Suburban are close to 15 years old. The large mirror as well at the 3" convex spot mirrors significantly decrease stress when merging or changing lanes.

The chrome and stainless versions on my '75 Cadillac -- these are at least 30 years old, and I was able to purchase webbing and cushion kit to restore these directly from the manufacturer.

The 15 year old version of the McKesh mirrors that I utilize on my Suburban.

I tried a set of the CIPA slip-on mirrors, but was never satisfied with the minimal view of the approaching traffic -- and I was almost shocked by what I had been missing without the large convex spot mirrors.

Cipa Mirrors

I am also using the ones that SilverCottage has. As he states. you can be reasonably pleased using them. I've had mine for 1 yr., and am now looking for some better ones. The Cipa ones just do not go out far enough for the wide body. You can see down the side, but just barely. I am looking for some that still attach to the mirror and come out further. Reason being, I like the idea of being able to fold the mirrors back at shopping centers!

We're using McKesh mirrors with the 3" convex spots. I really like the view they provide, especially on the curb side. And, I agree that they are very easy and quick to attach to the TV once the initial (and simple) adjustments are made.
