Hey if it works for you and you're happy with it that's fantastic! Just spent a couple months camping in Colorado, hot but very dry. Headed back east now and its hot as heck AND very high humidity. I run two rooftop, 35 year old units in my 310TD Classic motorhome. They keep it nice and cool.

I'm glad it is working for you. I wish I had one this past week here in South Jersey. It must be different in Princeton.

I looked to see where this terrible place of high humidity was, I see you're in Tampa. Hey, that's where I am! Yes, it can get humid here. I feel your pain.

I have to assume it's condensation. The drain lines are working, and it's also draining onto the roof of my Airstream. My guess is that 98% humidity is just a little too much for my ACs. I also know the Dometics come with a dehumidify option you can set. Mine don't have that. I got my trailer in New Jersey. I don't think they understand what a hot and humid day is up there...

The leaks are coming from some of the little holes where the air filters are. November, where are you??????

I use one at least that size in my SS. Have it under dinette table. Which isn't far from AC intake. It's outlasted two 15K Dometics.

A TT would have to be new or really well sealed not to benefit, IMO, once onto the Gulf Coast or from Texas eastward.

My dehumidifier, same model as you have pictured, came in at noon today, I set it up in my basement theater 15'x35' the humidity was over 80% after 2 1/2 hours it is down to 65%.
Nice machine, I hope it keeps working!

Here's the temperature and humidity inside the Airstream for the week. The last couple of days I've had the dehumidifier running the humidity has remained stable at around 40%. I've noticed the temperature also holds steady at 85 degrees, which is what I leave the AC at during the time I'm not there.

I am very satisfied with this purchase.

I have 3 of these units-2 in the garage of our vacation place at the Texas coast and 1 in the AS. I only use the one in the AS when it is at home hooked up to shore power. I rarely see the dehumidifier and the a/c running at the same time.

Dehumidifiers in the price range are junk, so always buy the extended warranty. In 5 years, I have had 2 replaced under warranty.

I left it running all week and turned it off when I got here in the weekend just to see what happened.

I saw.

My AC was dripping water onto the floor. It started after I adjusted the vents to point them a little lower. I adjusted them back up and no longer had the problem. My conclusion was that the air was being directed into the unit from the bottom of the vent and was either blowing water out of the drip pan or was blowing onto some surface outside the drip pan which was exposed to the more humid intake air and condensing moisture from the intake. Do you have your vents pointed so that the air is all going out into the trailer?

Al

I don't have vents I can turn up or down. Only open and close. Mine is a 2014 so I don't have the newer vented AC. I have noticed it leaks more if I run the fans on low or medium, or if I close too many vents.

FC, it's been a while since you got your dehumidifier and I was wondering if you still like it in the Airstream.
I realize that asking this at this time is pretty stupid since I have left Titusville because of the storm but it is also this first chance I have had to sit and read. (Hanging out in north Georgia at the moment waiting to see if I have a house to go back to ).
Does it create heat? Did you drain it into the shower?

It works great. Yes, I drain it into the shower. My only complaint is the electric bill. It's like running another AC. But it keeps the humidity under control. It blows warm air but it doesn't overpower the AC.

I like it, but I need an extra source of income to afford running it...

Dehumidifiers in trailer

For the past year I have been using the Ecoseb humidifier; measuring 18-1/2H x 11-1/2W x 7”D. I bought on Amazon. I found out about this unit at a seminar at International rally in Salem last year. I love it, it does a great job. I use it in the basement in my home when not using in my AS. It generates clear filtered water which I dispose of outside the trailer eliminating further filling my gray tank. My wife sewed a great cover for transporting.

Check out Vinnie’s Northbay Airstream repair on this subject. Even after AC use, Vinnie has a video where he pulls out a lot of water from AS that come in for work. I’m a believer in Dehumidifiers.

Resurrecting this thread to wonder if anyone knows of good Peltier or compressor-based 12V units. Ideally I'd like it to be able to run off charge coming from the panels through the batteries for an extended period of time. None of the Amazon ads seem to have the power source listed.
