A Revolutionary RV Dehumidifier?

So a couple caveats. This unit does not appear to be specifically intended for use in a boat or RV (so it's AC), and it would also need to be plugged into a converter to run on North American power grids.

Apart from that, it has some impressive features (humidistat, continuous drain, air filtration, etc), and its ability to remove and filter 8 litres (a little over 2 gal) of water per day, is suitable for all but the most extreme humid conditions on board RVs up to around 300 sq ft.

I'm just a consumer, no affiliation with the product. Curious to hear thoughts, as this appears like it could be a full solution.

I looked at that one too. Wondered if it was suitable for my needs. I'll be full timing, with provisions for longer showers, laundry, dishwasher, and two people + dog perspiring and respiring, all during a Canadian winter...

The big brother of the EVA-DRY 2200 (the EDV 4000) is almost identical to the Neostar ADD, https://www.eva-dry.com/dehumidifier...-dehumidifier/

We have the EVA-dRY 2200 on our boat and I just recently bought one for the our 68 Overlander. We are happy with the units. If running continuous in cooler climates (50's*F and below), the condensing fins will frost up and stop attracting/removing moisture. One trick I learned from our sailboat owners group is to attach the unit to an old school outlet timer so that it can 'defrost' periodically throughout the day. In our case we run the dehumidifier 1 hour on, and 30 minutes off. I bought both of mine off of Amazon 'Warehouse Deals', so they are essentially open box deals. There is about a $25-35 savings this way.

I have not seen these active dessicant dehumidifiers before — thanks!. I found lots of review videos online, and one video led me to this consultant in the humid UK, who really likes the dessicant models. He says they are MORE efficient in colder conditions, which is the opposite of condenser-based models, and is better for an Airstream in winter camping conditions. Plus, they create waste heat, which I would want in winter camping.

Martin, thanks for sharing that, I found the EDV-4000 to be pretty impressive as well (I hadn't seen it before you shared it). One thing I'm concerned about WRT both the EDV-4000 (at 7L/day) and the NeoStar (at 8L/day), is that it barely reaches my optimal target of a 10 L/day system.

Then there is of course this one, the McIntire DH-10. Check out its power draw!

lbdesign, thanks for sharing that vid! There is some good technology coming down the pipes (no pun intended)

I have also been looking at the eva-dry EDV-4000. It looks great for when one has shore power. But I am also looking for something to use when winter dry camping for two, or maybe three nights, to reduce humidity. Has anyone used this?

I am tempted to get two of them, but need to know how many days they would last before needing to be "recharged."

Here is another, that I first saw at our local Airstream dealer's parts department:
h2out

I just don't get the rave reviews for these devices for moisture control. How can it last for more than a day? If one "renews" it in your A/S stove, doesnt all the moisture go right gack into the trailer? Only useful if it lasts long enough to put it in the oven back home.

I've been very happy with my dessicant dehumidifier. Especially good in colder weather because it throws a little heat, and is more efficient in the cold. I bought this one, but Amazon shows it as unavailable at the moment I type this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KHJIC04/

Peltier-based dehumidifiers are weaker, and will lose effectiveness the colder the space is.

Bay Area Airstream also recommended these. Will they work if you are in the trailer or mainly good for storage?

They are ideal for living in the trailer, because they are silent, unlike noisy compressor-based dehumidifiers. Read the reviews on Amazon.
