I just posted this, but I think it disappeared. I am desperate for both wing windows for the front of a '69 Overlander. Does anyone out there have any or know where I can find them?
The windows from any 1969 trailer will work for you it does not need to come from an Overlander. However they must be from a 1969 only as this was a special window used only in that year. When looking notice the corners of the window and frame in 69
only the upper outside was rounded.
In 1970 and later both the upper and lower outside corners were rounded.
I will include pictures of both styles.
Best of luck finding what you need.
I thought the only replacement is a lexan?? no glass or frames like you can get for a 1970 on. ??

Andy, can we assume that since windows for the '69 are available from the factory, 70's models are available, too? (should the need ever arise....). Or are you saying that we're better off to make our own from the lexan material, or buy them from you? and these windows that are available...you're just talking about the glass? or is it the whole framework that is riveted to the shell of the trailer?
I think you can get the 70's (round top and bottom) in the frame still but I think they are really pricey. As you have to take your own window out you have to drill out the rivets anyway.
Bret explained how to replace with the lexan and if you take your time it will be fine at only the cost of replacement lexan from your local window/glass place.
In a few weeks Peter should be tackling this project along with re-plumbing GT.
Inbetween of course launching his boat and sitting around the dock - what great weather we are having up north - no complaints - anyone want to get away in a couple of weeks - I think we will have room for maybe two trailers but you are more than welcome!!!
chuck your close enough for a short holiday - maybe you should hook up with Peter and plan a wing window replacement weekend.

Airstream strives to have window replacements available for the 1969 and up trailers.
However, they have a few made with plastic instead of glass. They also use a different flange on the stack and vista view windows, and on some of the wrap windows. They still can be used, but sometimes a little more work is involved.
The 1969 opening windows used a different hinge. Therefore when a replacement opening window is needed for a 69, you must change the hinge. If not, the window will not close, and if you force it, the hinge rivets will shear. Also sometimes the bottom of the window sash may slightly overlap the frame, making it necessary to shave some of the metal off the bottom.
The classic motorhome side windows have not been available for sometime. But, they can be repaired using Lexan.
However, Lexan will not work for the driver or passenger sliding windows.
With the help of Airstream, we now have the curb side slider on hand, and in a few weeks will have the drivers slider on hand. Why the original molds were destroyed, for all those windows, no one knows.
To our knowledge, Airstream does not have any plans to discontinue any of the 69 and up windows, other than the double pane windows, which they discontinued sometime ago.
Andy,
thanks. good to know for future reference. I'm just asking out of curiosity...don't actually "need" to replace anything. (except those sheared rivets previously mentioned ). But you know...those front windows hang out there in, well..."in front", somewhat precariously. and I hear they tend to attract rocks and other UFO's on the highway.
I know, I know...you're gonna say "rock guard". that would be good insurance, if I wasn't such a cheap %#%$ Its on my "list". For now, I'd actually be more interested in removing the inner panes of the front windows. they're in a constant state of "fog". I found that the weep-hole repair was attempted in the past. either it didn't work at all, or the holes are plugged up. I think the service manual describes the removal process. But I seem to remember reading that people have had problems with that? I'm chicken.
GT: well, ON isn't just across the street...but it is also on my "list" of places to see someday. Closest I'll get this year is the region 1 rally in Trois Rivierre. you comin?
I was able to replace the wrap windows in my AS. When I purchased it they were already missing. The PO said they were there when he bought it but they just busted out during towing. I think it has something to do with the gasket material hardening and not allowing the window to flex. Just my opinion. But I'd spray the gaskets often with a healthy dose of silicone spray.
You can see the work I did on my window replacement here.
As far a the rock guard. You may be able to find a used one. I got one with a crack in it for $100. Repaired the crack and it still looks good to me. I got mine from Oasisrv.com. I just happen to be driving by there so I did not have to pay shipping. Shipping can be expensive as it's quite large.
yes, I've seen those pics, and it looks like you did a fine job. But I was talking about just removing the inner pane, which I think can be done without taking the window frame off the trailer.
