when we purchased our trailer it came with two tinted and one untinted rock guards I was wondering if anyone wanted to swap. I am looking for a roadside tinted rock guard in good shape from a 90's non widebody

Repaired

Sounds as though one of them has been repaired with clear lexan.
You could always replace the clear lens with a piece of smoked Lexan.

Smiley's right...

Hi Bill!

I think all of the factory rock guards were smoked. I'd bet a day's pay that the clear one is a replacement.

Check around and see who you can have replace the lexan with the proper density and color of smoked lexan! It'll be less expensive than trying to find a new curved rock guard!

Thanks,
I will look into replacing the Lexan.
I was also told there used to be a company that made a aersol
tint but all the window tinting places I have spoken with said
they don't know where to get it. Anyone have any ideas.

Bill

I remember the spray-on tint you mentioned. It was pretty popular with us kids in the early 1970,s.
Back then the 'in' look for our cars was the raked stance (to simulate what we saw at the drag strip) with tinted side windows.
The tint was applied to the inside of the window while the glass was cool. The results depended greatly upon how clean you could get the glass prior to spraying the tint on. You'd start at the top of the window and apply the tint heavily, in order to get it to run, then feed the run all the way down the window. If you fed the run evenly, it turned out well. But, this type of tint didn't seem to hold up well as, in time, it would blister and peel.
The last time I saw this aersol tint was in the J.C. Whitney catalog but that's been a long time ago. I don't know if they still carry it. I'd start by checking with them.
However, unless the product has been improved over the years (quite possible), I doubt it would hold up well for your purpose, in the long run.
