My '77 Argosy Dometic shelves as a mess! The fridge is original, and my dealer say's that I can't order new ones because they are obsolete.I checked if I could get them re-cromed but it sounds like the guy didn't want to do them so I think he quoted it pretty high ( 80 bucks a piece x 4 = $320.00!) Hey everybody, what are my options here?Location Southwestern Ontario.

The price for rechroming doesn't sound too far out of the ballpark based upon what it cost to have the bumpers rechromed on my '75 Cadillac convertible two years ago. There is another option that may be less costly yet provide a clean, durable surface for your refrigerator shelves - - powder coating - - auto body shops that do specialty painting or work on custom cars should be able to identify powder coating shops in your area. In my area, powder coating is usually about 30% less costly than chrome plating.
Good luck with your refrigerator shelf project!

We are about 1 1/2 hours 'Streaming drive from Lansing. What are the dates of the rally? Flea market sounds fun! I've got a wanna list!
However, powder coating is an option.Maybe I can sandblast to prep them for paint to help lower the cost.
The flea market is normally one morning near the end of the rally. If I can get on the forum I will post the time. You will need to get a day pass into the rally to be allowed entrance to the rally events. Heck, tow the Argosy down and join us for the whole thing if you can

If you should decide to attend, you might want to consider joining the VAC for the parade into the Rally grounds - - it is always a fun event. I don't have my Vintage Advantage handy, but I believe the parade is scheduled for June 25 or 26 (will have to check when I am out in the garage tomorrow morning). We also have been assured of being parked together in years past if we arrive with the parade (custom at previous rallys has also been that late VAC arrivals have been parked with the group on a space available basis).

I just had some Jag wheels powder coated. They had been chromed by the dealer. I had them sand blasted and powder coated with "near chrome". They look great and not too expensive. Less than a real chrome job.
