Porch Lights
I ran across some of the Signal Stat round porch lights last week. They have the clear lens and chromed housing just like the originals and fit perfectly. The hookup is single wire and the bulb came included.
The price was $ 18.00, which seemed excellent to me. Their regular price would have been $ 40.00. I wonder what Airstream gets for them?
I went to buy some new orange and red marker lights at a local truck supply and ran across these Signal Stat lamps on a closeout table......they had 4 of them left as of last Friday.
TrucParCo is the nam of the place in Anaheim CA.

Someone in need of the porch light might appreciate a good deal.

I think there is one of those on Ebay right now. If you don't see it then look in the recent file and you can see what it went for. Looked to me like a standard housing used on semi's with a clear lens but maybe I'm missing something.

Ewe,
do you happen to have the part number for that chrome housing ? (no rush)
Years ago, we found a replacement lense at an auto part store somewhere. It looks like they may be easily available....cheaper than through AS.
Thanks

Signal-Stat is the manufacturer.

I needed these, and now all 4 are MINE!!!!!!!!!! Thnaks Uwe!
Talk about timing, I spent 2 hours trying to find these on the web last night. Signal Stat was bought by trucklite last spring and is in the process of re branding all of the product. I was at Bates RV today and looked at a new classic and the light now says truck lite on it, but looks exactly the same.
My original is looking very poor, and I need 2 to add as backup lights. I am going to replace my rear lights with a newer style and I want to utilize all three light sockets for stop/turn indicators.

I am glad you could use them. I was pretty stoked myself when I saw them, because i had been trying unsuccesfully to make my silly porchlight work for some time. I still got the old one if anyone needs parts from it. It's got a problem with the actual bulb holder, bad contact, sticky positive pole.
The company listed previously also has lenses that look suspiciously similar to the rear lenses on my 71 Tradewind. i am going to make another trip to their warehouse soon to see about more trophies!

Porch light
Hey anyone out there know where I can find a porch light for my 1970 airstream? The only thing I have is wires sticking out of the out side wall. It sets dead center over the door. At this point I have no idea what it's suppose to look like.

Door Light
Jean54,
the light above the door is for the door and steps.
It looks like a small upside down and flattened cone, with the opening facing down. Sort of like a nose. There is a bulb inside, and it looks like there also should be a translucent cover, which is missing from mine.
The porch light is a round light with a clear lens, just like a backup lamp, and it is flush in the side of the trailer near the front curbside window.
i am unclear where you might get a replacement entry light. Perhaps Inlandrv or one of the Salvege Yards might be of help.
Good luck!

Door Light
UWE
On your old porch light with the sticky positive post you might try replacing the spring underneath the ceramic disk that holds the positive contact center in the holder. Depending on the wire gauge a spring from an old pen will work.

Thanks, JD.
I ended up tossing the old light. Too much corrosion inside the light, and a fair amount of impatience on my part. One less thing to worry about....

Uwe,
That's too bad, why would you toss it? Hopefully you saved the cast housing? All you need to do is buy any generic sort of a cargo lamp and rob the socket assembly out of it and fasten it inside the housing in some fashion. The lense can be cut from a piece of white translucent plastic. I made a clear lense for mine and put a yellow bulb in it, kinda keeps the bugs away. I think the over the door porch lite is one of the coolest things about our 70's vintage units.

Do you find that the only way to replace the bulb is to pull the housing (porch light) away from the skin so the lens can be removed? I replaced my bulb and then had the seal where I ripped the old sealant.

The only area you need to seal is where the wiring comes out. A good shot of Vulkem will do the trick. You want to be able to remove the cast cover when needed.

Chas,
I tossed the old porch light, not the door light with the cast housing.
