Post lpg regulators

Just checking to see if anyone else has had to replace the lpg regulator on their travel trailer. We discovered that ours was leaking so didn't want to hesitate a day without making the repairs. Went to a local Camping World and purchased one for $45. but wanted to keep with the original equipment that Airstream uses. After checking the owners manual and then a scan of the internet we found one on sale for $165.00. We couldn't understand the large difference in price so when returned home I called our local lpg distributor and asked if the model number that we needed could be purchased there. What a surprise when we got the exact one that we needed for $45. plus tax. Just wanted to let people know to check out different options when dealing with "on sale" products.

Airstream has a two year warrenty period on the purchase of a new trailer. Of course we didn't find out we were plagued with a faulty regulator until after the warrenty period had passed.

Apparently the regulator was putting out less than 8 lbs (?) of pressure, and all the appliances need 11 lbs. Consequently, I had to purchase a new regulator. We went to an rv repairman suggested by the camp ground we were staying at.

$115 and 15 minutes later, we had a new regulator, (not the airstream brand) that just screwed into the holes on our frame and is working perfectly. All the problems we were having for the last two years with a furnace not to hot, unable to boil water with another burner lit, the fridge going out, and the hot water heater running out of hot water are all gone.

We are now happy campers, except for the fact we had to pay for a new regulator.

LPG Regulators

The LPG regulators were among the first maintenance replacements on both of my trailers after purchase. In both cases, the regulators were thought to be more than 20 years old and were not functioning correctly - - the '64 Overlander's regulator was actually leaking, and the '78 Argosy wasn't providing consistent pressure. Both were replaced by my regular Airstream dealer, Ace Fogdall, Inc. I am especially pleased with the replacement on the '78 Argosy as it included the new OPD hoses that allow connecting/disconnecting the gas lines without the need of a wrench - - my Airstreams replacement preceeded the availability of this style hose.
