You may well enjoy the trip. From St. Louis proper it should be about 4 1/2 hours driving time. Take exit 22 to the west bound north outer road.

Colaws is a large RV salvage operation - probably 30 acres or so. Some rebuildable units, some parts units, some scrap. They also have a very nice rv parts and supplies store, with excellent prices. They discount regular items, and buy up closeouts and overstocks, sometimes by the truckload. I can only assume they are still trying to sell out of the hundreds of Coleman roof ac units they bought.

The 20 or so Airstream salvage units are interesting to inspect. One thing that is instructive is to see the basic integrity that is preserved in a crash. Most white box coaches you just sweep up the pieces.

They also are a good source for used items which are not Airstream specific - NT30 furnaces, water heaters, converters, etc. Many times these items are on salvage units just a year or two old.

Happy hunting,

Mark

Wink colawrv

I was at colaw this am. They have a 93 34' that they took off the flatbed saturday. I went and got the rear window awning off of it. The door side is pretty wasted but the window side is pretty good. There is a 36" and a 95" window awning still on it. It also has at least 2 good fantastic fans on it. It also has a complete dinette. There was also what looked like a 96 0r 97 32 that was beside it. Good luck

There are several models of Fantastic Fans - including a model that is sold only to original manufacturers, not through retail. The consumer model varies only by features - simple speed control, reversible, and rain sensor. The oem model can be distinguished by the fan blades being opaque white. The consumer models are all transparent and colorless.

There is a significant difference between the two. The oem units blades are white, and the others are, ummm, not. As far as I know they are otherwise identical. But I would expect a greater price reduction in a used oem version.

I believe, subject to correction, that there is a gasket that comes with a new Fantastic Fan. This will not, of course, be usable in a salvage unit. However, Vulkem will probably provide a better seal anyway.

great! I might buy all of them. two fans in my Safari, and oddly, there are three vents in the Overlander that I thought would have fans, but don't, just vents....

For anyone waiting for the inventory list from the RV Junk Yard, Please wait untill next week. I had two wisdom teeth pulled late yesterday ( a rather unexpected event....UGGHH! ). I will probably be headed down Tues. to check out what they've got to offer us scavengers.

Thanks!

Anyone waitinf for a list of what I found at Colaws, I haven't made it there yet. I had to have two wisdom teeth pulled Thursday night, quite unexpectedly. Although I hadn't any pain Friday morning, I wasn't about to jump in the truck for a 10 hour round trip, especially if I had to pop a pain pill.

Tony and I are heading down there Thursday to pick up our window, and assess what they have left to offer. Then off to Chicago Friday. So I'll let you all know next week what we found at Colaws.

Thanks !!!

Been there!

OK, what an incredible adventure this was. Colaws was an amazing experience. We picked up our window, which I heven't checked to see if it fits yet as well as several other parts we needed from the 76 they were dismantling.

It was VERY sad to see all of the A/S lined up in a row like bodies after a masacre. OK, more like a bunch of waded up aluminum foil. The only a/s that wasn't a disaster was the 76. That was a shame though, it was only discarded for a rear separation. Everything was in perfect original condition, and everything worked. WHAT A SHAME!

I forgot the didgital, so I will be taking in the disposable camera for pics to show. Ever need anything that you can't find??:call COLAW RV parts. !!!

THanks for all of the advice!!!

Ron

it fit!

For anyone that was following this thread, I finally put the window in last night. It fits perfectly. Colaws included the entire frame, locks, etc., so those parts will be used on the other windows. I have waited so long because I thought it might not fit (my luck....you see....), and I didnt' need another thing to worry about.

Now the back window was taped on, and I haven't checked out why. So i may be back here with more window help questions.

Thanks for all the help guys.
