Question Help me find a new fresh water tank!

My 1978 Tradewinds needs a new freshwater tank. I've got a call in now to Beloved Andy, as well as a couple other sources.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Don

Water Tank

Don,

What's wrong with your existing one? (I assume a leak) And what material is it made from?

Try Inca Plastics. I haven't personally used them (haven't needed tanks), but know a couple of people who have gotten new tanks from them and are very pleased.

They list water tanks as one of their prodcuts.

Good luck,

I've used All-Rite Plastics and was pleased with the results. I ordered a tank and while it was being made, I fabricated the booth to fit the sizes specified. When the tank came in it was exactly the right size and dropped right in. They will put in the inlet and outlet holes where you request and thread them in a size you specify. Took them just over a week to build and I ordered it through my regular RV parts place.

call sonny at camper repair center in montevella Alabama. he has a stack of tanks that you wouldn't believe. and he knows what they fit. he might have a problem retrieving it from the pile.

water tank

Another source for water tanks, electrical stuff, etc. that often works well for RV is WestMarine. Hit their website. They have a variety of water tanks designed for sail boats (basically floating RVs). Marine gear is generally designed for rugged, bumpy conditions similar to the abuse a trailer gets. I've used marine lighting, wiring etc. Prices/quality often same or better than what you'll find from those advertising here. Service & Return policy usually better as well.

Tanks for the suggestions - here's the results:

And here's how the prices shook out:

Oasis RV - Tucson: $112.80 Airstream (in stock)
Dillon's RV - Mesa: $121.27 Airstream (two weeks for delivery)
Tankdepot.com: $162.50 generic
watertanks.com: $273.43 generic
Inland RV: $284.50 Custom / Airstream (gaskets included)

Freight is additional on all of these prices.

Guess who sold me the tank!?

Location, location, location - Mesa

Tucson isn't worth the $8.47 and you are not in a hurry.

Don't forget the 7.5% handling fee for Janet N. on the guys in AZ.

And since you live in the valley of the sun, was shipping the same for each?

Well, the closest tank was in Tucson...

...the Dillon's tank and the Inland tank would both have had freight from at least California. The other tanks were also too generic and would have required extensive welding for fittings and stuff....
