With regard to the failure of your frig, I don't think running it while not level caused the failure. I have read that running the unit while not level will cause decreased cooling. My frig was working one trip, then the next time (about a month later) I opened up the door and smelled amonia and the frig would not cool. I was told by several people that when one smells amonia the frig is dead. The choices are to rebuild the unit or replace the unit. Rebuilding was nearly as costly (100.00 less) and less warranty. I opted to buy a new unit. At first I could not find anyone to ship to my residence, but eventually found Campers Choice at 1-800-833-6713 or
www.camperschoice.com. They shipped a new Dometic RM 2820 to my residence for a $25 dollar shipping fee, the total cost was 1165. Also, no sales tax since Campers Choice is in Alabama and I live in TX. I found the right repalcement model number via a chart at the website
www.rvmobile.com. I opted to install the unit myself and as of yesterday I completed the job and it works great. The toughtest part is removing the old unit and getting the new one inside. After that it was a piece of cake. If you decide to do this yourself don't forget to disconnect your electric and gas and tape your DC wires so they won't spark. I saved about 300 dollars by ordering the unit myself and installing myself. Since I don't live in my RV I had the luxury of installing the frig at my own pace.
