caulk removal

I am looking for advice on how to remove caulking that former owner used on exterior around windows, etc. See attached pic.
So far have tried paint stripper, aircraft paint remover, buffing and razor blade. Nothing seems to really remove it totally. Thanks for any suggestions.

re: caulk removal

You might want to check out the suggestions in this SILICON REMOVAL thread. My personal formula is 1 part mineral spirits, 1 part plastic scraper and 98 parts elbow grease, but I think Shari found an easier solution.

You might want to try the gasket remover, but I always use mineral spirits (paint thinner). You also need mechanical force - a scraper. The trick, of course, is not to gouge the aluminum. The best thing I have found is a wood craft stick (popscicle stick), with a simple bevel on the end formed with a pocket knife. You can keep trimming it back until it is too short to use.

Basically, it is a real pain, and Dante would have added an eigth circle had he known people would put silicone on Airstreams.

Thank you both for the advice. I will proceed tomorrow evening.
I particularly enjoyed the reference to Dante -- that 8th circle should also house the PO's who painted my bathroom pepto pink.
