A/S license plates collector
Hi there;
I've gotten my first A/S license plate, from North Carolina, when I bought my Airstream . As I 'm a french License plate collector, and as 53flyingcloud send me his plate ( from New Hamphire ), I 'm wondering if it'll be possible to get one A/S trailer or MH plate for each state ... from US, CDN or overseas.
So, if you have kept your old plate and if you want someone take care of it, I'm the guy for that. Send me your plate, please.
I think it'll be the first time that a LP collector made a run with only plates from Airstream.
Each plate I 'm going to got from you, I'll take a picture on this forum with your indications, if you want.
Stupid challenge ? may be ... but why not, it's always about Airstreams.
Here is my adress:
Bruno ACCART
30 Place Charles Valentin
59140 DUNKERQUE
- FRANCE -
Attached is my daughter, Rachel with my first A/S plate, mine, and the present that the prior owner A/S, Billy, made for her.
For the anecdote, the 2 letters on the plate ( BA ) are my name initials.
Thank you by advance,
Bruno;

Bruno,
How about a trade? I don't know, what do you got? Maybe a French license plate? As far as trailer plates here they aren't specific to Airstreams, most are generic for trailers in general but I would be glad to send you one from Texas anyways if you come up with a good trade.

Trade if you want
Hi Chas;
I think in different states , non passenge plates are specifics to trailers or travel trailers as in North Carolina, shown in my picture above ,so I don't know for Texas.
Just your old A/S plate that you keep in your garage in the dust... , not your car's one.
If you want to make a trade , I can send you my french license plate list ( about 1000 plates ) and you pick up one you want.
So I need your email , my list is in Excel format.
Thank you by advance,
Bruno.

Bon jour Bruno,
I brought my 27 Overlander to France last summer and traveled around, starting in Le Havre, and down to the Med into Spain, and back through Annecy, and then through Suisse and on up to Sweden. I had a for sale sign on it the whole time and no one was interested until I arrived in Sweden.
I'll bring another to Europe this summer, and may consider selling it. Do you know of any buyers in France? I'll bring possibly a 1958 Fliying Cloud, or a 1964 Trade Wind. Merci!

Hi Trailertrash;
People are interested , at first, when they see my A/S but it's not easy to use it because many standarts are different from yours in USA, but it's possible too. So that's the way to afraid .
Plus, We have to sucess in a special license driver to tow these travel trailers and it's expensive and not easy, so no serious buyers for the moment.
What do you do with the old A/S plates when they are sold ???
You know what to do now .
Best regards from FRANCE,
Bruno.

Old plates
In Texas, the plates stay with the trailer when it is sold, so there aren't usually unused plates until the trailer is finally scrapped. However, you can ask for and get new plates every so many years if the plates become damaged.
I like to keep my old plates as long as possible because I know the number when I register at a campground.

Thanks and yes, I know about the licensing, but I have several trailers that weigh far less- like my 58 FC. The Overlander weighed 2.2 tonnes, and was easy to sell in Sweden. The FC is 2M less and feels like its half the weight when I pull it.
The other problem is the parks there- the spaces are made for very small european caravans and small cars- I was pulling mine with a full size Chevy conversion van. This year I'll buy a Mercedes van in Allemagne.
If you ever have a need for a transformer, I found one that is imported right here into Miami that will step up or down and 5kw- enough to run my roof air and everything inside. It works from 110 to 220 or 220 to 110, and cost about 425Euros.
Florida has no special license plates for trailers- they're the same as a car.
Isn't there some kind of A/S park down near the Spanish border? ....

Bruno,
That plate is a keeper!! Live free or die baby!
I know you want trailer plates but our current regular issue Texas vehicle plate has the Space Shuttle on it, it is in the upper left corner. Looks to be on it's final approach. I just remembered it now and checked the wife's car in the garage and there it was, on the plate. I will definitely be keeping my set. Very surreal.
I will get a pic on here for you to see.

It is a auto plate, not for pickups or trailers.

Just show me your A/S plate
Hi everyone;
I can understand that you want to keep your plate , so if you can't send me it ( $7 max, in shipping cost), because it's always on the A/S, try to put , one more time, a picture of the plate on it, ... just for fun.
Thank you one more time.

Hi again;
If you want to give me your old A/S plate, I can send you a french plate instead of yours, from PARIS, by example or from the city you want , in FRANCE; I ve listed more than 1000 french plates and you can pick up one in my list i 'll send you;
What do you want more , is it not an honest deal... for the plate on your garage wall ???? .
Thank you by advance.

I'll have to take a picture of my Michigan Bicentenial plates....Sorry I'm keeping them. My sister has a pair and I have a pair. In MI they ran plates front and rear so My sister has the matches to the pair I have.
Now GA Peach plates I got coming out of my ears! I change plates when I buy vehicles just to remove any chance that plate has some history from the PO. Heck I have a plate that came off our AS when it was my Father-in-laws. Nothing special, Just a GA license plate. I was using it to sheild paint overspray today. I might part with that one if my wife doesn't want to keep it for some reason. The paint overspray is on the back.
I may also have a Antique Vehicle tag from on of my cars. I'll try to get some pictures of them this week.
