Who installs new roof unit A/C?

I am having issues with my original A/C and think I will just replace it with a new unit...Problem is I am recovering from knee surgery and also a large man at 500lbs..so I cant be wrestling a unit from off my AS...
Where is a good place to have a new unit installed by someone that knows Airstreams?....my local RV Stealerships look at me like I own a UFO whenever I mention my Airstream....
Anyone here had luck with having a new unit installed? what was the cost?

Thank you

I bought my air conditioner from a local parts dealer and installed it myself. I think I paid $540 with the inside trim kit. It was a pretty easy DIY job for me, so it'd be a piece of cake for any good RV service center. I spent some time getting the old one removed, filling the unused screw holes, and prepping the opening. There's only 4 bolts holding the new one on. I wonder which one of those would give a professional service center trouble . . .

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

Have know people who had it done at camper world. they have to order a curved bezel so they need to know it is and airstream. we had one done at Airstream at Jackson Center. a little spendy but they do a first class job.

You live 200 miles from teh mother ship, so why not take it there and spend a night or two in the Terraport?

Moonshine, I agree with Jammer, if I lived that close, I would head to Jackson Center to the Service Center. You could call them with any questions.

I agree. I live in the Lexington area and have received the same response from our local dealers. Old and antique stumps the local RV people.

Ok....the "Mothership"? is that an Airstream Factory?

I would have no problem pulling it a few hundred miles to get a job well done....

What unit do the replace it with?

And where is said "Mothership" located....

I'll give them a call and see about a quote

Thank you for this useful information....

Moonshine: at the Airstream factory in Jackson Center Ohio they have the Airstream Service Center which is dedicated to the repair of Airstreams new and old. They have a very good rep on the forums. You can even camp while they work on your trailer, they will pull it inside during the day and put it out to the "Terra Port" for you to use at night. See the link above for details.
