1st of all the A/C should be installed above the axles so you don't change the tongue weight. Not sure what year they started, but a drain tube and electrical was put inside the walls if someone wanted an A/C added. I may be wrong but I believe it was never to take place of a vent but put above the axles.
My 28' still has all 3 vents. The center one having a fan in it. My A/C is installed aft of the center vent putting it over the axles.
When I had mine gutted I saw that the drain came from the pan, went over to the side wall, down the side at an angle toward the front (to get it in front of the wheel well), then exited through the floor and belly.
