What is a "fantastic fan" ??

It is a roof vent with fan. There are several options you can get with these. They are not an air conditioner.

It's actually a 'Fantastic Vent' but it is commonly known as a fan, which it indeed is!

They come in lots of flavors from strictly manual to fully automatic with rain sensors and auto opening and closing lids, and are priced according to options.

Another way to go is the Maxx Fan. This is similar to a Fantastic Vent, but comes with an integrated cover that when in the open position, still covers the opening to allow full operation in the rain. The Fantastic Vent will not do this unless an aftermarket cover is added, much to the factory's displeasure.

You can check out the respective web site to see the models available. They are great appliances for ventilating your trailer when no 120VAC is available (both work on 12VDC) and keeping it muck cooler than if you didn't have them.

No. The beauty of these fans is that the do not require 120VAC so they are perfect for use when boondocking or dry camping where you will not e able to run the A/C due to lack of 120VDC power.

They also make / sell an item they call the "Endless Breeze" - which is a fan that looks like a small box fan and which operates on 12 volt also ... draws 1-3 amps, as I recall, and does a nice job of moving air around inside the RV or other vehicle. But most people think of the roof vent fan when one says "Fantastic Fan."

Just to be on the safe side, I have one of each. Replaced the original bedroom vent with a opaque flat lid Fantastic Vent from Vintage Trailer Supply (the 6000RBTA model with thermostat and rain sensor) and an Endless Breeze that I bought at the North Little Rock Camping World.

I can recommend both.

And, technically, not only does the Endless Breeze look like a box fan, it is one. A 12 volt one.
