What heater should I use? Wave8?

Greetings Airstreamers!

(This maybe a bit long to read but I'm trying to get in as much detail as possible)

I have a situation where I bot a Wave 8 heater for a 1966 17' Caravel. We're custom building the interior and ran into a problem where the heater is too big for the space. My mechanic is concerned I'll get too cold and this will dampen my camping experience. I have also heard that the Wave 8 would be perfect for the size of my trailer.

Anybody have suggestions or experience with the Wave heaters?

How close can you be to it when it's on? The only other place I can place it is in the galley next to the hot water heater. Even there the heater will jut out a bit.

Should I go with a Wave 3 and a Buddy Heater (combo deal)? The Wave 3 can fix below the bed and I can pull out the Buddy Heater if needed.

I'm trying to make good decisions and complete this renovation project before the Beverly Beach, OR rally in October.

Thanks fellow AS! I look forward to your suggestions.
Karen

I had the Wave 6 on the wall adjoining the oven/stove upon entrance to my '77 Excella 500. The fold down couch was on the curb side to the right of the door. On low I could sleep with my head on that side of the couch and it kept it toasty warm. That would place it approximately 4' away. On high it would have roasted me.

I'm using a wave 6 in my 34' but its not the sole source of heat. With the 8 you can always turn it down. I think the 8 will work well for you.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I have to find room for the Wave 8.

I decided to

1) keep the Wave 8 because I hate being cold
2) not to mount the Wave 8 because it takes up too much room in a very small trailer
3) use stands and a flexible propane hose so that I can move it anywhere in the trailer

wish me luck. I'll start posting pictures once my project is closer to completion. Which I hope will be in September.
