Ug! Blowing hot air
Fired up the AC today after not using for 6 months. Nothing but hot air from the vent. Inside temp was 85 when starting and 92 when I turned it off. Ambient temp 85. Going to give it another try tomorrow morning and see if it works with lower ambient temp. Frustrating, heading up to a state park Monday and with the summer temps rising I wanted to make sure I would have some cool air.

Is there a valve that you can tap on with the cover removed? Any coils that need cleaning? Hoping its a easy (cheap) fix Michael.

A squirrel chewed thru the "reversing valve" wiring.
Wiring and squirrel both fixed.
All cool and warm feeling... mmmmm.. both so satisfying...

I got a new fix for my squirrels. A momma fox and her 3 kits live under the shed. Rabbits and squirrels have mysteriously disappeared. Foxes are entertaining every morning from 5 -6:30 as a bonus.

Ok, Fan runs but compressor does not kick in. I spent the morning calling around to shops. Amazing how as soon as you say it is an Airstream they say "We do not work on those". Stupid business practice. It it is the same AC unit in half the RV built in the last 5 years. Soonest anyone locally can take a look is the 26th, Foley Airstream in Gulfport. The AC is only about 4 years old and was installed by Jackson Center. Hopefully it is something simple (read inexpensive) to fix.

Michael,
Do you have the Dometic Comfort Control II Thermostat? If so you may only need to reset it.
If you only have one zone, punch the MODE button until the display reads blank. That is nothing on. If the fan is running it my take 20 or so second to stop.
Now press and hold the Mode AND Zone Button until you see IniT displayed.
Next cross your fingers and press and release the off/on button. Now punch Mode button until Auto or Cool shows up. Now set the temperature about three degrees lower than inside the trailer and in about 2 minutes she should start up making cold air.
Some times these Dometic controllers decide to hang up and you have to give them the squirrel treatment.
Hope this cures it.

Also don't forget to check the clock for both zones. Make sure the time is set correctly. Known pain with the controller.

Convinced those controls go walk about from time to time. Good luck with the trouble shoot exercise. No AC is no fun. Pat

Just got the bad news from the AC Doctor. No squirrels involved. The compressor is fried. New AC ordered direct from Dometic. Should arrive in about a week and will be installed by Foley. Believe it or not got the best price thru Foley. Darn good folks to do business with.

At least now you know. Here's hoping it gets fixed quickly, and you get great service from the new one!

Picked up my trailer today from Foley's. Shiny new Dometic Penguin HD with heat pump and drain cups. This bad boy puts out some cold air and actually seems to be somewhat quieter than my previous unit. This is the first time I have had an Airstream that drains properly. Very humid today and water is flowing out the drain line as designed for a change. Hats off to the crew at Foley RV in Gulfport, Mississippi for a job well done.

Pissed off and need to tell someone. Woke up this morning in northern Michigan to 63 in the trailer. Went to turn on the heat pump to take the edge off. Seems I have no heat pump or propane heater connection. Waiting till Foley RV opens back in south Mississippi to let them know of my displeasure.
