This doesn't seem normal
2002 Classic 30 with what I presume is a 2002 Dometic Duotherm Penguin heat pump/ac unit controlled by a Comfort Control Center (not v2). It is cold outside here at Canopener. The CCC manual says at 30 degrees it will switch from heat pump to furnace but something else is happening. It seems to run OK until (presumably when it is too cold ouside) the fan stops running but the compressor doesn't. Is this cold weather related or is it a problem?
Thanks,
Al

If it's like ours, the fan shuts off every 20-30 minutes for 5 minutes so the the condenser can de-ice. Ours did that on our trip to Branson in late Nov early Dec. it had never done that before. Even in Bryce last Spring when it was 20deg. If you read in the Dometic owners manual, there is a good explanation.

Do you have the thermostat set to “auto”? You can set the thermostat to “furnace”. That should work. My AC heat pump shuts down around 35f.

Bgibbs nailed it. I read the manual but missed that paragraph. I read it again and found it. Michael, thanks, that is what I've been doing, but I'm burning propane like crazy. Now that I know it's normal I'll go back to heat oump.
Thanks guys!
Al

Hey guys. The other night was very cold and windy and the heating seemed to run continuously so I shut it off and turned in a small ceramic heater. I have a 2016 20' with tank heaters. The temp was 66 when I tried on the Domestic. Immediately the furnace kicked on and the heat came out at the floor level in front of the furnace. It was Great! Last night the furnace did not luck on even at 26 degrees. Thoughts?

Thanks to Mike at Airstream tech support and Brian/Jessie at Foley RV we now have furnace heat. Warm at last!! On the Dometic comfort panel depress the mode button until you see furnace...then set the desired temperature. In temperatures lower than 40 degrees the heat pump will not hear your unit.
Thanks Airstream and Foley RV!

If your thermostat doesn't show the furnace option...go outside, unscrew the furnace panel and check the little circuit breaker switch. Keep warm everyone.
