Suburban furnace thermostat install?

I feel dumb asking this because it seems simple, but how do you wire the thermostat to control the furnace? I am connecting to the old thermostat wires, but they don't match up. Neither my Airstream manual nor the thermostat manual are much help.

There are usually two wires to the thermostat. Think of them as one wire that has been cut, and a switch (the thermostat) inserted between the cut ends. One end of the wire is live power from the battery via the 12 volt distribution panel. The other end of the wire now carries switched power to the coil of the time-delay relay on the furnace, which switches on the rest of the circuitry. One terminal on the back of the thermostat may be marked as +ve for the live wire , but as the thermostat is just a switch, on the ones I've fitted, it's irrelevant which wire goes to which terminal. (If this is sometimes different, forum members will soon tell you) I hope this helps.
Nick.

This is for my trailer maybe not for yours. Read instructions first. Maybe get qualified help if there's any questions. This is a gas appliance located in the sleeping area. This is nothing to mess up:-)

On my trailer, the two blue wires are for the thermostat, the red is battery 12v live, and the yellow to white is ground.

Thanks for the help! It looks like I have a set of wires that control a thermostat for the A/C and a second set that control the furnace. That is what was throwing me off. I think I found them. My two wires are red and gray.

I found that all the wires can be tested and mapped with a small battery charger, a jumper light, and a multi-meter.
